Well here we are again with the first week of winter upon us and a full compliment of committee back on board.
On behalf of the President, thank you to those members who stood up and did that little bit extra to help with the chores during his Honeymoon absence.
Also at this point We the club wish to sincerely thank John Wishaw and Priority Promotions for their help and assistance in obtaining Trainers First Aid Kits and a Master First Aid pack to help us back on our feet after the Anzac Day Weekend break in and theft of our equipment.
Oz Tape supplies have also given their assistance with some hefty discounts on replacement strapping tapes.
Last weeks Colts game saw Micky’s minions come away with a 13 point win. Toby Pears had a great day out with a 3 goal tally, with Lloyd Batchelor and Jeremy Pfeiffer snagging 2 a piece.
Chappy, Macca and Jimmy Craik were the playmakers on the day in what was a great effort by the boys.
Not so much good news for Luke Hill and his charges going down by 39 points in what was a very gutsy hard effort by a very undermanned team. Banga was the standout performer for the Eagles in this game with solid performances from Willo, Josh McCarthy and Gabe Morgan. Robbo also got into the best players list ( welcome back mate ) Goals came from Macca 2, Willo, Baz Church and Tatts but the highlight of this game would have to be the hanger taken by big Church he was up so high shorty thought he was going to need to give him some oxygen.
Then we come to the nailbiter that was the seniors game. This game could have gone either way but alas, our boys were left wanting by 5 points.
What a sensational effort from Wombat booting 9 goals. Bents also got on the goal scorer list with 4 of his own.
Gods and Ackers were great at ground level as were Speedy and Heath Simms. Big Whitey put in another great performance.
Huonville’s 6 goal burst in the first quarter proved to be our downfall as the next 3 quarters had us going toe to toe with them in a scene reminiscent of the Geale / Mundine fight with the eagles refusing to take a step back.
Congratulations to the players who have been nominated for the Rep game squad. With this game to be held at North Hobart Oval Sunday 28th June. I will do some profiles on those boys over the next week or two.
And finally on a light hearted note. Our opposition Time keepers must have come away from last Saturdays game stunned by the antics of or Scoreboard chicks. The novel way they came up with acknowledging the Goal Umpires at the end of each quarter was amazing. We will however, have to get some hazard signs and rope off a no go area directly under the scoreboard or else someone may get decapitated by some waywood number panels. |
