Well the day started off well with the Egg and bacon Rolls sizzling away on the Barbie under our mobile Corporate Sponsors Marquee. Then someone said the change room bogger was blocking up and panic set in.
We sent the Colts out to do battle not knowing that the Hot water had been turned off also.
The boys were in for a cold shower at the end of the game. Not a nice return for a 37 point win.
That must have got Jake “Jabber” Nillson angry as he was running around like a rabid dog marking everything coming his way. Llloyd Batchelor kicked 4 goals and Chappy got his customary 2 six pointers for the game.
Speedy Standen and Kurt Flynn were outstanding all day with Macca and Brownie working hard and getting their names in the best player list.
Having gone from Swedish Chef to Electrician extrordinaire ( He turned the circuit breaker back on ) Weiry got the Hot water happening ready for the Ressies who had a 88 point win thanks to Andy Crossin and Matt White 3 goals apiece. Joey Searle was running around like an ant on steroids. The team were just too quick for Central, and with Banger, Radar and JD playing like they were in an elimination final. The result was a fitting reward to a solid team effort.
The Seniors were dealt a heavy blow prior to the start of the game thanks to a late withdrawal from the team and this appeared to unsettle the Structure.
We were playing catch up all day trying to rein in a 23point quarter time deficit. Mowser worked like a Trojan all day ( showing off to mum and dad no doubt ) whilst Chris Crossin, Speedy, Bents and Simsy put in solid efforts. Spud Tait was the team punching bag on the field and Fergie and Speedy were the only players to register multiple goals on the day.
Our third Quarter was un doubdtedly our best and it looked like things might have turned our way peppering the goals with 11 shots for 26 points, but that was not to be.
Losing Ackers to a knee injury was not an ideal situation but I’m sure with the keen mental attitude of the boys are showing we will put on a good performance ant Anzac Park this week.
