Report

G’Day All
Only three replies to my request for assistance in writing the Column, Danielle Steele, Bryce Courtney and Robert Ludlam. I will be vetting their resume’s this week but on first appearance I’m sure someone locally would be better suited to the task so it’s not too late to put your hand up.

Our trip to Oatlands this week did not achieve the outcome it was hoped for. There was no frost or ice on the drive up so it was up to the Colts to make their own excitement and, they did it on the footy field. A 57 point win was a good start for the day. Jabba  Nielsen kicked 5 goals with Kurt Flynn chipping in with 3 Chappy and Lloyd  Batchelor 2 each and singles to Alex Jones and Toby Pears.
Leading from the front to be best on field was Jeremy Pfeiffer with Chappy and the Johnson boys working hard all day Toby Pears put in another strong effort and Jabba was rewarded for his work around the goals.

A 35 point loss for the Ressies was just as big a shock to the supporters as is was to Luke Hill. On paper this group looked the goods, on the field though it was a different story, Micky O did his best booting 4 goals Dean Graham chimed in with 3 Toby Pears doubled up from  the colts with 2 and Fred Barrett ( happy Birthday Fred ) gave himself a birthday present with a goal also. Clint King was streets ahead in our best players for the day his 100 minutes of dedication to the task. Kaine Oates continues to put in solid performances. The 2  Mickies, Evans and O’Donovan were triers all day whilst Bobby Keefe and Dean Graham held the  opposition side to what could have been a bigger winning margin.

Still struggling with injuries and outs Ackers and the boys went down to the home crowd by 48 points but not before Wombat had posted 4 goals, Fabian worked well for 2 goals with an un characteristic  1 goal only for the game to Bents. Willo and Alex boosted the Sorell score with a goal each.
Nathan Donoghue came back into the team to be our best on ground, Willo continued on his award winning great form. Young Josh McCarthy worked tirelessly all day as did Luke and Matt White. Spaz Howard did his best to repel the Central attack but as he found out you can’t do it all yourself.
Mathematically we are still in the hunt and, it would be a shame to see the teams throw this chance away. The future of our club and, by that I mean the younger players deserve no less that 100% commitment from all concerned in our run to the end of the season.

Tonight’s Ladies night function should be a real hoot if last year’s effort is anything to go by.

Many people behind the scenes  have worked well to put it together and it should be the icing on the cake or as we say when on holidays The Barbie Sauce on the Cheesecake ( Do ask Jane Williams what is the story is here )
