Report

Well it looked like there had been a spot of rain during the week when I got down to Pembroke Park on Saturday morning.
Brimma had burnt out 2 mobile phones talking to the Council. Ackers did his fair share of pleading with Kerry from the Council to ensure our Home game went as planned.
Didge was also impressed as he only had to try and mark out one ground.
Shorty decided to go on a holiday which meant Dean Graham was going to be the Mr.Fixit. Even Pearsy went to the mainland to escape the wet. Never mind

The Colts came out and played what was a very physical game and a game in which goals were hard to come by for both teams. Kurt Flynn was our major goal scorer kicking 4 with some very hard ball gets and capitalising on every opportunity. Chappy, Jabba and Jimmy Craik were the other goal getters.
Macca was by far the best player on the field. Jake, Kurt, Millsy Coops and Scooba  all did more than their fair share to get in the best players list also.
At the end of the game a 16 point win was a very fitting reward in trying conditions.

In the reserves game the result was far from what was expected. Going into the game Luke was very apprehensive but, the final score of 92 points to 1 had the boys a whooping and a Hollaring the Club song in what looked like an audition session  for a role as Al Jolsen in the movie The Jazz Singer. Best on ground for the Eagles was Josh McCarthy who had doubled up from the game of his life in the Colts.Banga, Brimma and Eugene put in solid performances as did Sparky and Josh Needham.
Hurls booted 3 goals Church got 2 as did Luke Hill ( just a boy playin in the mud ) This was a good morale booster for the team and they can go into the bye to recharge their batteries for the Central Hawks encounter.

The Senior boys had a pretty chopped up ground to work on but never the less came away with the four points with a 17 point win. A four goal lead at the end of the first quarter set the team up yet again but, Pembroke Park’s fickle wind in the second quarter saw that lead diminish to 5 points. Ackers was far from subdued in the change room at half time giving the players ,himself included, a very colourful spray that would make a coal miners dog cringe with fear but, it worked. Speedy (3) and Bents (2) got the score board ticking along whilst Willo , Gods and Mowser  made every post a winner. Glendon Bentley’s attacking style of play got him in the best players list and Nuggy Kaine and Speedy racked up plenty of stats as usual.

Weiry got the un enviable job of telling the chief cook and bottle washer there were two lots of jumpers to wash. He got sent to the local laudromat to try and work out how to drive a washing machine ( that was an experience ) much to the astonished looks from other laundry users.

Enjoy the break this week boys.
