Report

Once again your intrepid sports writer has been on leave on the big Island and as a consequence todays notes are very brief. If any club member would like to assist or, take over the role of Head Sports Writer for the Sorell Eagle’s weekly Bulletin. Don’t hesitate to give Cul – de – Sac a ring. He could do with the help.

Last week’s trip to Cygnet saw our Colts go down by 51 points. I can only assume the heavy ground and a small list of players to call on were the underlying reasons for the loss.
No multiple goal scorers for the Eagles this game but, Toby Pears increased his years goal tally as did Steve Morris and Lloyd Batchelor.

The Ressies suffered a similar fate going down by 43. Once again with an injury riddled list and elevations to the senior side, Luke’s boys battled well in the hard going. Whitey and Banga led the better performers on the day with Jamie Needham, Clint King and Mansell getting a mention. Freddy Barratt copped a hit on the chin that Danny Green would have been proud of and his consistency on the day got him into the best players list also. The old Stager, Dean Graham got on the goal scorers list again as did Dills, Banga, Fred and Sparky.

Getting off the blocks early seems to be the magic bullet for our Seniors team. Their 6 goal first quarter had them winning every quarter to come away with the 4 points winning by 6 Goals. Once again, this side was greatly undermanned coming into this game and it is a credit to Ackers and the boys in getting over the line. Speedy must have had a great day booting 8 goals and getting  first entry in our best player list.

It’s also interesting to note  that the SFL U19’s nominees  for Sundays Representative  game from the club, that is, Grant Williams, Cam  Howlett, Sam Perkins and Gabe Morgan were all in the best players list on Saturday. Plus, great to see Chappy taste his 1st bit of Senior Footy, & doing rather well. That shower in the middle of the team song must've been very enjoyable !!

Congrat's to Willo for not only getting in the best players list for the Rep side but earning the Medal for Best on Ground. Well done Grant.

Players and Members, don’t forget the Quiz night tonight with tables of 6 filling fast.
Luke and Church have got a Plethora of Posers for your Edification and some great prizes to boot.
